Oud is a very popular essence among the Persian Gulf countries. Across Arabia, men and women are known to dote over the raw material—admiring the lavish fragrance for all its warmth and complexity. In fact, oud is so popular in Arabian fragrances that there exists several subfamilies of oud (such as fruit oud, leather oud, rose oud—and the list goes on!). Agarwood, or oud, is the most expensive note in a perfumer’s palette. It has been valued for thousands of years and is considered one of the most luxurious ingredients in the world of perfumery. Oud is derived from the dark resin of the Agar tree, which grows in very rare conditions. Although its popularity skyrocketed in the past decade, oud has been known and used by various ancient civilizations in esoteric ceremonies and meditation practices for hundreds of years. Perfect for cold weather, oud has a distinctively woody, slightly animalic, and rich scent. Oud’s warmth adds whole new brevity and depth when combined with floral or spicy notes.
UDFORSK DUFTE MED AGARWOOD (OUD)Definitively spicy, saffron adds an energizing burst to both feminine and masculine fragrances. It’s an endlessly luxurious note of warm, leathery facets. Particularly evocative of smooth suede, saffron evokes an intimate feeling: soft, and yet slightly bitter. As the most expensive spice in the world, saffron is a well-known perfumery ingredient that is also called “red gold”. In ancient times, it was used as a single-ingredient fragrance reserved only for the highest members of society. Although modern perfumers are not reluctant to spotlight its earthy, hay-like, sweet aroma on its own, they are more interested in exploring its partnership with leather, spice, and amber notes. The fragrances that feature saffron are rich, opulent, and enticing, making them perfect special occasion or date night picks.
UDFORSK DUFTE MED SAFFRONCreated by perfumers, the praline note reproduces the sweet, gourmand scent of caramel with molecules such as Maltol or Ethyl Maltol. Reminiscent of childhood sweets, praline is decadently warm, vanilla-sweet, and adds a balsamic facet to fragrances. A smooth, milky, and candy floss-scented base note. Count on this popular gourmand note to make any fragrance extra sweet and tempting. It smells like roasted nuts and sugar, with an added dose of warmth and delight. Sprinkled generously in gourmand fragrances, it is a regular star in feminine creations, although any predominantly masculine fragrance is perked up by its lively presence.
UDFORSK DUFTE MED PRALINEThe scent of clary sage evokes an interesting duality that is both animalic and herbaceous. Floral facets caress aromatic scents while rich undertones of camphor permeate. A warm, amber-like note reminiscent of fresh tobacco lingers.
UDFORSK DUFTE MED CLARY SAGECedar or cedarwood is one of the oldest ingredients used in the perfumery, with its balsamic, woody aroma providing a key facet in many popular scents. Native to the Mediterranean and the Himalayas, cedarwood has been revered for its mystical and magical properties by many cultures throughout history. The Cherokee tribe believed that the human spirit was hidden in the core of cedarwood, while Tibetans used cedarwood oil in their spiritual ceremonies, and ancient Romans used the tree trunks for ship construction. In perfumery, cedarwood is primarily used as a base note, anchoring the top and middle notes of a composition. Cedarwood combines extremely well with floral and citrus notes, lending warmth, while the fragrances in which cedar is blended with musk and amber have a green and clean aroma with a retro/vintage vibe.
