ABOUT Givenchy
Est. in: France, 1957
The Givenchy couture house was born in France in 1952 as a result of the entrepreneurial vision of the designer Hubert de Givenchy, who soon achieved a prominent place in the fashion world, due to the success of his elegant and sophisticated designs. The brand's history in perfumery began in a very special way in 1957, linked to Hubert's relationship with Audrey Hepburn, which began with the actress's interest in wearing his designs in the films in which she starred - as in Breakfast at Tiffany's - and ended up becoming a friendship. Hubert's love for Audrey turned into a perfume he created exclusively for her, called L'Interdit (which means "forbidden" in French), as the actress initially forbade him to market it. The fragrance was eventually released and is now one of the brand's great icons, with an updated version in 2018. Givenchy's legacy, both in the world of fashion and perfumery, lives on in classically styled creations that maintain timeless elegance and a taste for luxurious artisanal details.
