The leaves, stems and roots of cranberry bushes are rich in tannin—a chemical that was used for tanning leather due to its natural ability to prevent the disintegration of collagen fibers.
Produktion
Native to the mountainous regions of Europe, Asia and America, the cranberry bush thrives in acidic soil and at altitudes of 300–3000 meters above sea level. Its red or black berries are refreshing, slightly acidic and can veer towards bitter. The white and pink flowers that adorn cranberry bushes tend to bloom between the warm months of May and July, and the berries themselves can be harvested in August and September.
