Historie
Despite its hardened exterior, the sweet flesh of pineapple has kept us enraptured for millennia. Believed to have originated in Brazilian rainforests, pineapples were harvested and eventually spread throughout South and Central America. When Christopher Columbus stumbled upon the fruit in the 15th century, his taste buds took a liking to it and soon pineapple had joined his voyages—gradually being introduced in warm climates across the globe.

As it’s not possible to extract essential oil from a pineapple, the note is reproduced synthetically using molecules such as allyl caproate—with its distinctly fruity, pineapple-esque scent.
